Comprehensive Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED A COURT REPORT?

When determining parenting time arrangements, you may be recommended to seek an assessment which will ascertain the views of your child(ren) in this matter. The role of the clinician is to identify and amplify the 'Voice of the Child' so that their views are taken into consideration when decisions are being made. The views of each parent are also made clear in the report and recommendations are made based on integrating information from each of these sources.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

We have a fixed Schedule of Fees which outlines our rates for each service that we provide. You can download our current fee schedule here:

HOW LONG DOES EACH APPOINTMENT TAKE?

Initial consultations / parent interviews typically take between 60 and 90 minutes. Child interviews typically take no more than 60 minutes per child. In some cases it may be necessary to have more than one interview.

Appointments for direct intervention last 50 minutes each.

Other services (e.g. consultation, parenting classes) will vary.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY CHILD ABOUT THEIR APPOINTMENT?

We generally advise that parents keep explanations about the child's appointment minimal and brief. It is usually sufficient to explain to your child(ren) that they will be meeting with someone who wants to learn more about their family. Parents can help by encouraging children to feel comfortable speaking honestly about what life is like at home. We have produced an infographic that parents may find helpful to share with children:

HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK FOR COURT REPORTS?

Referrals are generally made to our service via Solicitors by way of a Referral Form. A deposit invoice is then issued for the family, and once this has been received, appointments are allocated for parent and child interviews. After assessments are complete, we compile a Report that is submitted to the Courts once fees have been discharged. Your Solicitor will make an application to the Court for release of the Report, at which point they will review the Report with you and seek your instruction in relation to the contents of same.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE A COURT REPORT?

The timeline for allocating appointments and completing reports varies, so we would recommend getting in touch to find out what our current wait times are like. However, we generally would be able to offer appointments within 6-8 weeks of receipt of the deposit. Once all of the assessment pieces are complete, you should allow for up to 4 weeks for completion of the final Report. It's important to note that Reports cannot be released until all fees have been paid, so we always recommend factoring this in when considering your timeline.

DO YOU OFFER THERAPY?

Yes. We currently offer therapy to children and families where they could benefit from support in relation to family conflict, attachment difficulties, trauma, or adjustment difficulties post-separation. We take an integrative approach to our clinical work, as well as offering more specialised interventions such as Theraplay and Trauma-Focused CBT. If you would like to make a referral for therapeutic intervention, please get in touch.
